Day 1 & Day 2

Day 1 - I was okay in the morning and started to feel really weak afternoon. On the way home after work I was really tired and sleepy.

Day 2 - I was fine this morning then I got a headache right after I had my salad at lunch. I'm on my 2nd bottled water and now my headache is slightly gone. I just want to nap when I get home.

Thanksgiving Day Walk

David and I woke up the morning of thanksgiving determined to walk it off before we even started eating. We woke up later than we wanted but we still wanted to go for our walk. We decided to walk to the Torry Pines State Beach. It was the first time for both of us. We couldn't believe what a beautiful day it was at the beach.Families and couples young and old having a picnic at the beach to people in their bathing suits. Our biggest obstacle was the big hill on Del Mar Heights which was a bit of a challenge but we worked through it and finally made it back home in time to shower and get ready for dinner at my parents house. It was a great Thanksgiving day!

I'm very thankful for all of the people in my life, i'm thankful for the food that we have to eat and i'm thankful to live in the beautiful city of San Diego Del Mar.

SeaWorld Shamu & You Family Walk on Saturday, October 3rd!

We hope you had an incredible time today at the 3rd Annual Sea World Shamu & You Family Walk for Rady Children's. Not only was it a wonderful morning, but you've helped us to help kids – and those are changes that can last a lifetime.

We appreciate each step you took today to help the children in our community. Thank you so much – you really made quite a splash!

October 3rd, 2009 David and I participated in the Annual Sea World Shamu & You Family Walk for the Rady Children's Hospital. Although it was a rough morning we managed to get into gear and join the walk.

The trail started from the South Shores Park.

It was a nice 4 mile walk into Sea World and back out pass the park to the boardwalk along the way. It was nice because no one was in the park yet but the walkers so it wasn't crowded. We took a couple of pictures along the way.

At the finish line we were congratulated by cheerleaders, the San Diego County Credit Union character, Ihop and all of the volunteers who kept trying to give us water.

When we got to the finish line we were so hungry and luckily there were plenty of giveaways and free food. From Ihop, Rubio's, Chick-fil-A, vitamin water, Luna bars, and more!

I'm so glad we went and maybe someday this will be a family tradition someday.

NEED TO STAY FOCUSED

Wifey Leah and I decided that the half marathon might be a stretch. So instead we're still going to train but just do shorter runs for now. I've been getting sick almost once every 2 months and it's really putting me behind. It makes it hard to get back in the groove of working out when I've gotten used to relaxing. David has also been training with us and doing some reseach on some short runs we can attend. There's one in August as well but benefiting the Fire Department. The run is 4 miles from La Jolla to PB. I think that this would be a great run and to do because it will be summertime and it will have a nice breeze from the coast. I'm excited about this run. I plan on running today so we'll see how it goes.

Need to stay focused....

Friday, May 29. Leah, David and I ran Miramar Lake again. This time we ran the opposite direction. I have not ran since the Coranado Bridge Walk/Run. It's been such a crazy past 2 weeks and I haven't even been out of town. I was debating to run or not because it looked like it was going to rain outside. Leah wanted to run and David and I were still deciding if we wanted to excercise at all. I decided that we should go even though it was cold and it ended up being so easy this time for some reason. We ran most of the way walking only 3/4's of a mile. I started to realize that I'm starting to get somewhere. I have to register in about 2 weeks so I really need to start pushing myself to run more each day even if it's only 2 miles. I'm at least doing something active. It really felt good to finish at the end of the 5 miles and still feel okay to run more. My goal is to run Miramar Lake 2 times, then I'll know that I'm ready. Thanks wifey Leah and my boyfriend for always motivating me. We ran it in under an hour and that's my best time yet. STAY FOCUSED!

The Navy's Original Bay Bridge Run

This was my very first run/walk. I didn't know what to expect at first so I was really excited to do it. It was kind of cloudy but it wasn't too cold, it was just right. Crossing the Coronado Bridge and looking back to see what I did was an amazing feeling. I wasn't trying to get the best time because I wanted to enjoy the view and take some pictures. I ran most of the way but I think it was because of all of the runners around me. I just wanted to keep going and only stopped to take a few pictures on the bridge. Even though the actually bridge was about 4 miles we also walked around downtown to get back to the car which was a journey from the ferry dock but I didn't mind. Total, we probably did about 5 to 6 miles if we counted all the walking we did as well. To finish our victory off, we went to Hooters in RB to reward ourselves. I felt so bad that night I just had a tuna sandwich that night. I'm so proud of everyone especially Leah who I planned to do the run with originally and to David who just decided to do it with us last minute and does not really run in the first place. Good job because he would've beat my time even though I wouldn't admit it. It was a nice short run and I enjoyed it. I would do it again. I think i'm getting addicted now and will probably do another one before the half marathon.

More friends to join in...

Yesterday David, Cynthia and I ran/walked Miramar Lake. I went to the gym the day before for 30 mins. on the eliptical, 1 hr. set class, and 1 hr. tease/salsa class. I didn't run as much because I was sore from the day before and I also had Cynthia with me for the first time. I knew she was a little hesitant to go so I wanted to take it a little easy. I didn't realize power walking would hurt my shins more so I would start jogging a little because Cynthia can walk really fast. Those bandos...no wonder they walk so fast haha. David decided to do his own thing and ran ahead of us. Which was okay because Cynthia and I got to catch up and have our girl talk. Not only were we working out but we were also got to have our girl talk and vent a little. All in all it was a good workout. Another 5 miles down...yay! I think I need a break today or a light walk at the beach or something.

Yesterday David and I decided to run around Miramar Lake after work. Our plan was to do the 5 miles and go home. Its been about 2 weeks since the last time I ran because I've been out of town or I was sick. I knew that 5 miles was not going to be as easy as it was the last time I ran it. So were jogging and walking at a good pace. We knew that we were almost at the end. Then we were told by these 2 ladies that the gate was locked and there was no way getting around it. Just my luck! So we turned around at the 3.5 mile mark which would make it a whopping 7 miles. That was probably the most I've ever ran so thanks to David for keeping both of us motivated and constantly pushing each other. Although I'm not as sore as I thought I would be. Its was defiantly a great run!

To the Command Station!

My boyfriend and I hiked the Nighthawk Trail yesterday and made it to the top of Black Mountain where the antennas are located. I've always look up to this area and knew it was where home is. It's where I grew up for the most part of my life. I can be anywhere around PQ and know that that way is where home is. It doesn't matter if i'm in La Jolla or Poway I just look for the mountain. It was a great day for a hike yesterday. It wasn't too hot yet and it was just enough shade to not make you freeze. I was also sweating so it felt good. It's a bit rocky but it was something different to experience. I'm going to need hiking shoes if I do this more often. There were also some areas where I thought I was going to slip and fall right on my bottom but I would balance myself or David would be there. There was a moment when the sun was setting and he told me to look at the sunset. When I looked over I must've tripped on a rock and we both started laughing so hard then he told me not to look anymore because he knows that I'm such a klutz. It was hilarious.

I've lived in PQ since 1991 and it was the first time I ever went there. It's almost like I crossed out an item off my list of accomplishments even if it is a minor one. I feel great and I'm happy I did it with someone who enjoys it as much as I did. Thank you David! We are constantly making plans that it's almost hard to keep up with but I know we will get to it sooner or later.

My new walking/jogging partner

Yesterday I shared this walk/jog with my new boyfriend. I've always wanted to do little things like this with someone beside my wifey Leah or girlfriends. It's just one more thing that shows that were on the same page together. We both want to stay active and maintain a healthy life style. So even though we get sucked into going out and having a couple drinks that turn into a lot of drinks it's kind of okay because we worked it out. For the last 3 years, going out has been and is still a part of my life but I would like to not do that so much anymore. It's getting old and it's also preventing me from my daily workout especially on the weekends. This is good!

Nighthawk Trail

It's been so hard to keep a log of my runs lately but this past weekend I went for a hike...twice. It was fun to do something different and out of the norm of the treadmill or eliptical at the gym. I mapped it out and it wasn't as long at I thought. It was probably because there were so many rocks and steep hills. All in all, it was the best feeling in a while. I'm probably writing about it now because I feel the need to do something physical today.

Rain Rain Go Away

Last Sunday, March 22, it seemed like a good day to go running. I ended up going out the night before not planning to get wasted but it still hurt me in the morning. Plan was to go jogging at 8:30am but I just could not get myself up until 9:30am. On my way to Leah's house it started to shower a little. The clouds were coming in and it started to ran. There was no way I was going to run in the rain. Plan #2 was to go to 24 hr Finess. I had my cousin with me and she didn't have a membership. I thought I would be able to get a day pass but that didn't work out. Plan #3 was to try to get in to LA Fitness using my roommates pass but we had to go home first to get it. We finally were able to work out by 11:30am. I was still hung over but I got on the eliptical and just pushed myself. I've don't think i've tried so hard to workout but it eventually worked out. Lunch was at my parents house so I didn't feel so bad about eating delicous homemade food. Since then, I only missed working out yesterday. Today, i'll be going out again with some friends so I will workout before I go. I used to say there was never anytime but the truth is that there is time, you just have to plan it out even if you have to go during lunch like I did on Tuesday. XOXO workout girl haha

For the past 2 months I have gradually started to run more often. I also registered for the Bay Bridge Walk/Run on Coronado Bridge May 17, 2009. http://www.mwrtoday.com/Sandiego/BR%2009%20info.htm It's only about 4 miles and it will just give me a feel for what to expect because this is my first run. It's the 23rd annual event supporting The Quality of Life Programs for Navy personnel and I feel that my support counts for something since my dad was in the navy.

I am starting to train...going to the gym more than usual and just being more active in general. I knew Miramar Lake was a good spot to start since it marks how many miles on the trail. It's 5 miles all around and I was able to do it last Sunday which was the first time I went around the whole lake. This past Sunday, I did it again and it feels so good! It's always a great feeling when I've accomplished something even if it's not a big deal or milestone type of moment.

I've also started to track my runs through this cool site that was referred to me. It's amazing that I never knew about this. It will help me see my progress the next couple months. At least that's the goal.
