The Navy's Original Bay Bridge Run

This was my very first run/walk. I didn't know what to expect at first so I was really excited to do it. It was kind of cloudy but it wasn't too cold, it was just right. Crossing the Coronado Bridge and looking back to see what I did was an amazing feeling. I wasn't trying to get the best time because I wanted to enjoy the view and take some pictures. I ran most of the way but I think it was because of all of the runners around me. I just wanted to keep going and only stopped to take a few pictures on the bridge. Even though the actually bridge was about 4 miles we also walked around downtown to get back to the car which was a journey from the ferry dock but I didn't mind. Total, we probably did about 5 to 6 miles if we counted all the walking we did as well. To finish our victory off, we went to Hooters in RB to reward ourselves. I felt so bad that night I just had a tuna sandwich that night. I'm so proud of everyone especially Leah who I planned to do the run with originally and to David who just decided to do it with us last minute and does not really run in the first place. Good job because he would've beat my time even though I wouldn't admit it. It was a nice short run and I enjoyed it. I would do it again. I think i'm getting addicted now and will probably do another one before the half marathon.

More friends to join in...

Yesterday David, Cynthia and I ran/walked Miramar Lake. I went to the gym the day before for 30 mins. on the eliptical, 1 hr. set class, and 1 hr. tease/salsa class. I didn't run as much because I was sore from the day before and I also had Cynthia with me for the first time. I knew she was a little hesitant to go so I wanted to take it a little easy. I didn't realize power walking would hurt my shins more so I would start jogging a little because Cynthia can walk really fast. Those bandos...no wonder they walk so fast haha. David decided to do his own thing and ran ahead of us. Which was okay because Cynthia and I got to catch up and have our girl talk. Not only were we working out but we were also got to have our girl talk and vent a little. All in all it was a good workout. Another 5 miles down...yay! I think I need a break today or a light walk at the beach or something.

Yesterday David and I decided to run around Miramar Lake after work. Our plan was to do the 5 miles and go home. Its been about 2 weeks since the last time I ran because I've been out of town or I was sick. I knew that 5 miles was not going to be as easy as it was the last time I ran it. So were jogging and walking at a good pace. We knew that we were almost at the end. Then we were told by these 2 ladies that the gate was locked and there was no way getting around it. Just my luck! So we turned around at the 3.5 mile mark which would make it a whopping 7 miles. That was probably the most I've ever ran so thanks to David for keeping both of us motivated and constantly pushing each other. Although I'm not as sore as I thought I would be. Its was defiantly a great run!

To the Command Station!

My boyfriend and I hiked the Nighthawk Trail yesterday and made it to the top of Black Mountain where the antennas are located. I've always look up to this area and knew it was where home is. It's where I grew up for the most part of my life. I can be anywhere around PQ and know that that way is where home is. It doesn't matter if i'm in La Jolla or Poway I just look for the mountain. It was a great day for a hike yesterday. It wasn't too hot yet and it was just enough shade to not make you freeze. I was also sweating so it felt good. It's a bit rocky but it was something different to experience. I'm going to need hiking shoes if I do this more often. There were also some areas where I thought I was going to slip and fall right on my bottom but I would balance myself or David would be there. There was a moment when the sun was setting and he told me to look at the sunset. When I looked over I must've tripped on a rock and we both started laughing so hard then he told me not to look anymore because he knows that I'm such a klutz. It was hilarious.

I've lived in PQ since 1991 and it was the first time I ever went there. It's almost like I crossed out an item off my list of accomplishments even if it is a minor one. I feel great and I'm happy I did it with someone who enjoys it as much as I did. Thank you David! We are constantly making plans that it's almost hard to keep up with but I know we will get to it sooner or later.
